Marcella Hazan introduced authentic Italian cooking to millions, transforming how we cook and eat. An immigrant woman trained as a scientist, who came to America having never cooked, Marcella was an improbable culinary hero. Through her cookbooks and teaching, she was influential beyond measure, but she is not yet a household name. Our documentary aims to change that.
I'm Peter Miller and I make award-winning documentaries that have reached people around the world on the big and small screen. I’ve also been making meals from Marcella’s cookbooks for as long as I can remember, and have long been fascinated by her amazing recipes and the force of her personality.
