Here we have the trailer for the documentary Reimagining Sicily. Director, Mark Spano, has said that he made the film because he found a gap in cultural and historical representations of the island. Sicily, as one of the most invaded corners of the planet, has a plethora of influences and much to offer in this regard.
A crossroads at the heart of the Mediterranean, the island's diversity and struggles have produced rivers of ink, but aside from the well-known representations of Hollywood, little in the way of celluloid (or these days digital) output. Take a look at this trailer – Reimagining Sicily's makers would like to know what you think. Enter the conversation and contribute your ideas on why portraying the island as a real, living, complex and vibrant location is so important.
